Stuart Florida Beaches
A guide to Stuart Florida Beaches including Bathtub Reef Beach updates.
Stuart has excellent beaches and there are great beaches to the north in Jensen Beach and the south in Jupiter and Palm Beach.
Bathtub Reef Beach Update
May 27, 2009 Bathtub Reef Beach is open - see details below
On Monday, May 26 around 6pm we went to check the status and condition of Bathtub Reef Beach. Here is a summary of what we found.
The beach is open and about 2/3 of the parking lot on the south side is open but flooded from all the rain. The beach looks fine.
Sand on Bathtub Reef Beach
The ongoing challenge with Bathtub Reef Beach has been the loss of sand, lots of sand. The result of the loss of sand is that at high tide there is very little beach.
Beach Facilities
The facilities at the beach including the bathrooms and showers appear to be severely damaged and closed.
The reef is fine and Treasure Coast waters are looking beautiful - crystal clear blue.
There have been no discharges from Lake Okeechobee, which has allowed the St Lucie River and Indian Rivers to recover. This means there is no fresh water flowing out the St Lucie Inlet and the result is that the Ocean looks great.
Stuart Beach
Stuart Beach (directly behind the Elliott Museum) is open and looks great.
